A man in his 50s living in the arid lands of the south in present- day Namibia at the end of the 19th century pursues his vision to continue the trek his grandfather could not complete to lead his people to fertile pastures. Instead he is dragged into a war with the German colonial power, which finally leads to the genocide in 1904.
He becomes one of the most important leaders against colonial oppression. His name is Hendrik Witbooi.
His letters and diary entries have been preserved as the so- called “Witbooi Papers” in UNESCO’s documentary heritage for humanity.
